House Andryr is an Imperial aligned knightly house founded by Leopold Andryr sometime between the 26th and 28th millennia. The exact date is uncertain since the original records were lost in the fire which destroyed the house's citadel on Vorinthis not long before the coming of the Imperium. As a result, the image of a burning keep has remained the symbol of House Andryr ever since. During the Great Crusade the house fought mainly alongside the Imperial Fists legion, gaining a reputation for siege warfare and demolition, and this remains the house's forte - it is not at all unusual to see siege honours decorating a knight's banner as a mark of honour.
As well as upholding all the traditions associated with the knightly houses, House Andryr is notable for being the only one to hold a Quest of Becoming. This takes the form of a task which the noble must undertake before he is allowed to join the house in war, and the more difficult the task, the greater the honour attached to it. A common quest is the recovery of some treasured artefact, many of which are returned to Vorinthis and stored in the keep's treasury. Those nobles who fail to return often become Freeblades, repainting their armour in the reverse of the house's colours and travelling from warzone to warzone in search of the artefact they were charged with finding.
The Knight Errant Defensor Arcis is piloted by Tobias Azemar, the younger brother of the house's current patriarch. He first distinguished himself at the Siege of Perdix, during which he led a detachment of knights from House Andryr against the fortress walls of the Chaos renegades, crushing it underfoot and forging a breach for the Imperial forces. On the tilting grounds, Tobias Azemar has yet to be defeated by any of his house save his older brother, Lucian, who has something of a reputation even among other houses as a formidable opponent. Even then, the tourney between brothers lasted for a number of days.
