First things first, I'd like to wish you all a very merry Christmas! Secondly, I've been doing some more painting on Thranduil, whose base is now completed. I'm incredibly pleased with how it's turned out, despite the fact that it took several days to finish. Most of that time was taken up painting the inlaid gold patterns, which ended up needing several attempts before I was happy with them. I chose to paint the leaves on the branches in an autumnal scheme, which would fit better with the general feeling of Thranduil's realm in the Desolation of Smaug. I've also been doing some practice for when I paint his robes, which are meant to be threaded with silver, by mixing in small amounts of Boltgun Metal with the highlights. While it's not yet perfect, I'm pleased with the results so far.
