This week I've been working on the Roman models that I got a while ago and making progress on the command company. In particular I've painted the red on three of the four members, and I've started the armour of the centurion (shown below). I've also added Thranduil to the gallery here, however after looking at the model for a while I'm not quite happy with the face, so I might return and touch that area up.
I now have the camera back again, but in the meantime I've finished painting Thranduil. There wasn't really that much left to do, and I was able to complete him in a single sitting (it was just the crown and the sword). I'll be adding Thranduil to the gallery as soon as I get a chance, but next up is a box of Mirkwood Palace Guards, who I'll be painting in similar colours to Thranduil but with a bit more gold on their armour.
Work on Thranduil continues (although unfortunately I don't have a camera at the moment, so you'll have to wait for pictures I'm afraid), and I've now completely finished painting the robes and face, meaning there's not that much left to do. All that's left is his hair and crown, and the sword (I'll be painting his rings at the same time as this, since they're a silver colour too). I expect everything will be done in the next week or so, which will make Thanduil the first completed model this year.
Firstly, it's this blog's first anniversary, so thank you all for reading! I've done a count up and I've painted 10 models this past year, which breaks down into 5 single miniatures and a squad of 5 Grey Knights. If there's one thing I'm hoping for the website this year, it's more people commenting and giving feedback on the models I post. Secondly, I've been making a bit more progress on Thranduil over the last week or so, and his inner robes are now finished.
My name is Chris Nelson, I'm a hobbyist. I started around eight years ago with Lord of the Rings as my first system, however I prefer painting to gaming.
